We're not looking for perfect pilots – but you should be able to operate your aircraft safely and understand the basics of virtual IFR flying.
NordFly is about more than timetables, aircraft and virtual flying hours. We bring together people who share a passion for flight simulation, fly together, exchange experiences and want to be part of a virtual airline for the long term.
That is why we have a few clear requirements.
They are not intended to restrict you unnecessarily, but to keep our community active and give everyone a shared foundation.
Family, work and personal commitments always come first. Our summer flying break in the third quarter and annual quarterly deletion protection deliberately make room for real life.

You don't have to be an expert in every aircraft. What matters is knowing the basics, enjoying flying and wanting to participate. Here we explain our requirements and why they matter.
All important information, announcements and help in one place.
You need a valid Discord account, because Discord is our central platform for communication, news and exchange within our community.
Our Discord server gives you announcements, support with questions and opportunities to connect with other members.
You must therefore remain on the server throughout your NordFly membership.
A common basis for independent participation and responsible interactions.
You must be at least 16 years old to become a NordFly member.
We chose this limit with data protection considerations and the requirements of our airline concept in mind.
We want to make sure members have the maturity and willingness to learn our procedures, rules and the technical aspects of flight simulation independently.
Start with an aircraft you already know.
To fly independently and enjoy your membership, you should be confident operating at least one aircraft type from our official fleet.
General Aviation (GA) aircraft do not count towards this requirement.
You should know your aircraft's basic systems and controls and be able to complete a flight independently.
You don't have to master the entire fleet. One aircraft you can operate safely and confidently is enough to get started.
Shared procedures make planning and flying easier, online and offline.
You should know the fundamentals of instrument flying (IFR) and be familiar with procedures such as SID, STAR, ILS, RNAV and LOC.
We also expect you to understand and operate your aircraft's main systems so you can complete a flight from takeoff to landing on your own.
We value an honest assessment of your experience.
If you've only just started flight simulation and are still learning your aircraft's basic functions, NordFly may not yet be the right virtual airline for you.
This is not a permanent no. We simply want to make sure you can make good use of what we offer and avoid unnecessary frustration on both sides.

Reliable navigation data makes flight planning clearer.
To plan and operate your flights you need current navigation charts and, where possible, current AIRAC data.
These are important for reliable flight planning in the OperationCenter and correctly following procedures.
Up-to-date navigation data and charts are especially important on IVAO and VATSIM, helping you follow ATC instructions and realistic flight procedures.
Regular flying keeps our community genuinely active.
To keep your NordFly membership active, you normally need at least five accepted flights per quarter.
We know work, family, holidays and personal commitments come first. Our activity rules are deliberately flexible.
The third quarter is NordFly's official summer flying break. You can also activate quarterly deletion protection once a year if you cannot meet your required number of flights for personal or scheduling reasons.
This helps us foster an active community without unnecessarily restricting your free time.
Your membership begins with an actual flight, not an unused account.
After account activation, you have seven days to complete your first NordFly flight and submit an accepted flight report.
This ensures new members truly want to take part in operations and begin their virtual airline journey soon after joining.
Please note that your account is automatically deleted if no first accepted flight is recorded during this period.
Plan your registration for a week when you have enough time to fly.
You can stay loyal to other airlines and actively contribute to NordFly.
Besides NordFly, you may be a member of up to two other virtual airlines.
This rule encourages long-term commitment to NordFly and helps ensure members have enough time and interest to participate in our operations and community.
Registration is generally not possible if you hold a team or management position in another virtual airline.
If you already belong to another virtual airline without holding a team or management position, a personal conversation is required before registering.
This conversation lets us get to know each other, rule out potential conflicts of interest and ensure there is no obstacle to your membership.
Before registering, please join our Discord server and open a ticket with the subject “Pre-registration discussion” in the designated ticket area.
We will then discuss the next steps and check whether you meet the requirements.

Over the years, we've found that people active in numerous virtual airlines often use NordFly only temporarily and engage less in our community.
Limiting membership to two other virtual airlines is designed to create a fair balance: you stay free to fly elsewhere while we encourage a long-term connection to NordFly and an active community.
NordFly is much more than a website with a timetable. Since our founding in 2020, we've invested countless hours, passion and creativity in building and developing the airline. By 2026, our financial investment alone amounted to approximately €8,000.
There are also ongoing operating costs and substantial administrative and technical work to run and improve our systems and keep them permanently free for members.
That makes it all the more important that this effort meets real, long-term interest.
We want to bring together people who appreciate our concept, identify with NordFly and want to be part of a lively community rather than just occasionally using our services.
People who hold a team or management role in another virtual airline could gain insights into internal structures and concepts that may also interest their own airline.
That is why we generally do not accept registrations from people holding a team or management role in another virtual airline.
NordFly members gain extensive access to our software infrastructure, internal procedures and airline functions.
Many of our concepts, ideas and systems have been created over years through personal commitment, creativity and substantial development effort. They are central to our identity and distinguish NordFly from other virtual airlines.
We want to preserve that independence in the long term.
We expressly do not assume other virtual airlines have improper intentions. Rather, we want to avoid potential conflicts of interest and unintended transfer of internal ideas or concepts from the outset.
This policy protects our independently developed concepts, investments and NordFly's long-term independence.
