Meet the Team of NordFly Group Airlines!

Dear Visitor,

On this page, we would like to introduce you to the team behind NordFly Group Airlines.

Without these dedicated individuals — who devote their free time with passion, commitment, creativity, and expertise to our virtual airline project — smooth operations would simply be unthinkable.

As the founder, I am all the more proud, grateful, and fulfilled that we’ve been able to build and shape these projects together over the years.

Over time, a team has emerged that feels like a family — characterized by flat hierarchies, mutual respect, and the freedom to contribute personal strengths and ideas.

It’s precisely this family-like collaboration that enables us to operate without rigid structures or voting systems. What unites us is a shared belief:
“These are our virtual airlines — our shared project.”

I feel deep gratitude for this spirit of togetherness.
Thank you for making NordFly Group Airlines what it is today:
A truly unique virtual airline group, wholeheartedly dedicated to its hobby and its community.

Bastjan Alan James Schmidt

CEO NFG

I work full-time as a paramedic and have been back in flight simulation since early 2020 after a long break, primarily flying on IVAO and VATSIM.

In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the idea to found NordFly-VAG was born together with a former team colleague.

As the project grew over the years and more airlines joined, I took on the role of virtual CEO of NordFly Group Airlines.

Tristan Schröder

CO-CEO NordFly

Hi there! I’m Tristan.
In real life, I’m a captain based in Hamburg with a PIC rating on the C525 class and around 1,500 total flight hours.

I also spent several years working as a COO for a business aviation company, where I was responsible for all operational processes.
Since mid-2023, I’ve been supporting Bastjan as Co-CEO in all matters concerning the airline NordFly.

S.Heller

CEO

Chief Executive Officer NordFly Cargo

Sascha Heller

CEO NordFly Cargo

I work full-time as a paramedic, am a father, and a passionate sim pilot in MSFS – primarily flying on the VATSIM network, but also on IVAO.

As a close friend of Bastjan, I’ve been involved in the development of the virtual airline NordFly from the very beginning, taking on various roles and helping shape its direction.

Since the official launch of NordFly Cargo in January 2024, I’ve taken on the role of CEO, responsible for the cargo division of the NordFly Group.
Outside of flight simulation, I’m also passionate about model aviation and Formula 1.

A.Schulz

Co-CEO

Co Chief Executive Officer NordFly Cargo

Alexander Schulz

CO-CEO NordFly Cargo

I serve full-time in the German Navy as a Petty Officer, but flight simulation has been a part of my life for many years.

Alongside my passion for long-haul flights in X-Plane and MSFS, I also occasionally take on the role of an air traffic controller on the VATSIM network.

At the end of 2024, I found my way back to the NordFly Group and am now excited to take on the role of Co-CEO, sharing responsibility for all matters concerning the virtual airline NordFly Cargo.

M.Gotaut

CEO

Chief Executive Officer FlyHoliday Airlines

Malte Gotaut

CEO NFG

I work full-time as a system administrator. I’ve been fascinated by aviation since early childhood and have been actively involved in the flight simulation hobby for over 25 years now.

Since the end of 2023, I’ve been an active pilot with the NordFly Group and, as of June 2024, I serve as the CEO of FlyHoliday Airlines.

Outside of my life as a virtual pilot, I’m passionate about strength training (fitness) and enjoy exploring nature on my gravel bike whenever the weather allows.
In addition, until August 2024, I worked part-time as an instructor in a static (non-moving) Airbus A320 simulator — which has given me in-depth knowledge of this aircraft type.

M.Otto

Co-CEO

Co Chief Executive Officer FlyHoliday Airlines

Michael Otto

CO-CEO NordFly

Moin Moin! I’m Michael,

I’ve been fascinated by aviation since early childhood.
It all started with MSFS 2002, which I flew for years, followed later by DCS — and now I primarily fly in MSFS 2020.

I joined NordFly / FlyHoliday in mid-May 2024 as an active pilot and immediately felt at home here.
Since December 2024, I’ve been serving as Co-CEO of FlyHoliday Airlines, following a previous role in the Flight Operations Department (FOD).

Outside of flying, I enjoy photography, going to concerts, and cycling.

Hi, I’m Linus, and I come from the APP (Approach) sector in Hamburg.

I found my way into virtual aviation in spring 2020, and since then I’ve been actively involved as both an ATC controller and pilot on IVAO.

Besides aviation, I have a strong interest in music and am currently studying Multimedia and Communication.

I’ve been passionate about flying for as long as I can remember. I was sitting in a virtual cockpit from an early age — starting with FSX and later transitioning to MSFS. For several years now, I’ve also been flying in real life and hold a Private Pilot License (PPL).

In September 2024, I found my virtual aviation home with NordFly / FlyHoliday and have since been flying primarily under the callsign “Holiday” on VATSIM.

Outside the flight simulator, I work as a professional firefighter and paramedic.
In my free time, I enjoy traveling, following football and Formula 1, and playing the guitar.

Hi there, I’m Julian – a proud Swabian by birth and a father of two.

My aviation journey began in simulated military aviation. Around two years ago, I discovered the world of civil aviation and quickly developed a strong passion for cargo operations.

Pallets may not applaud when you land, but at least they don’t complain either.

I work full-time as an administrative officer in the public sector.

My interest in aviation began with my very first holiday flight in early childhood. However, I only discovered the hobby of flight simulation in the summer of 2024 — thanks to a good friend who introduced me to it.

In October 2024, I became an active pilot within the NordFly community, and since January 2025, I’ve been part of the team in the Service Department.

Outside of aviation, I’m the proud owner of two cats and a passionate reader who loves spending time with a good book.

MENTOR

Mentoren

We are currently looking for cross-airline mentors to join us as soon as possible.

Are you an airline expert and know the ins and outs of our operations?

We’re looking for mentors who can support our new pilots by serving as their first point of contact, answering questions about our airlines, SOPs, ACARS installation, hub/airline management, and IVAO/VATSIM procedures.

Requirements:
• Active pilot for at least 2 months
• Member of at least one additional NordFly Group airline
• Patience and strong comprehension skills

Detailed Role Description

Dear Interested Applicant,

We’re delighted to introduce you to the Mentor Role at NordFly Group Airlines. This position plays a key role in ensuring that new pilots have a smooth start and gain a comprehensive overview of our airline and its operations.

Introduction: The Mentor as a Guide

Many new pilots face a steep learning curve, especially in the beginning. The sheer amount of information and tools can feel overwhelming. That’s why we created the mentor role — as the first point of contact to help new members settle in and find their way in the often complex world of virtual aviation.

Your task is not only to welcome new pilots but also to make them feel part of a dedicated and supportive community.

Your Expertise: The Foundation of the Mentor Role

To successfully fulfill this role, a solid understanding of the structures and processes at NordFly Group Airlines is essential. As a mentor, you are the go-to person for a wide range of topics:

· Familiarity with the OperationsCenter

You know your way around the OperationsCenter and can assist pilots with all related questions.

You know where to find downloads and liveries, how to book flights, and can explain the difference between booked flights and free flights.

You’re familiar with our SOPs, tours, events, and can guide pilots through managing their profiles. You also understand the distinctions between NordFly and FlyHoliday and can explain them clearly.

· ACARS Knowledge

You’re confident in using our ACARS system, know how to install and set it up, and can explain the process of generating an API key.

You understand the importance of rescanning scenery after each installation and can troubleshoot common setup issues with ease.

· Website Knowledge

You know exactly where to find all the relevant information on our website — whether it’s fleet details, FAQs, or the team overview.

You help new pilots navigate the platform and ensure they can access everything they need.

· Discord Competence

Our Discord server is the heart of our community.

You can explain the different channels, guide new members on where to post what, and help them participate in events such as the Screenshot Contest.

You’re familiar with the “Destination of the Month” and can explain how to earn awards and what the criteria are for PIREP acceptance.

· Technical Support

You’re happy to assist with the installation of MTLs, FSLTL, or NordFly Group AIG models, and ready to tackle technical challenges together with new members.

Your Main Role: Sharing Knowledge and Offering Support

As a mentor, your primary task is to share your experience and support others on their journey.

You’re active in the “newbies” channel, answering questions ranging from the very first flight to advanced technical setups.

But it doesn’t stop there — you proactively reach out to new members, check in with them to see how they’re settling in, and offer help where needed.

Sometimes, you might even accompany them on a flight to provide practical support.

Patience and a calm demeanor are just as important as the ability to explain complex topics in a clear and simple way.

As a mentor, you’ll encounter new challenges regularly — and that’s exactly what makes the role so rewarding. You’re the helping hand that motivates and reassures new members that they are not alone.

Your Goal: A Strong Start for Everyone

Your main goal is to give new pilots the smoothest and most enjoyable start possible within our airlines.

You help them navigate the flood of information and ensure they always have someone to turn to for guidance.

In doing so, you play a vital role in making new members feel welcome and well-supported within NordFly Group Airlines.

As a mentor at NordFly, you are the key that opens the door to a successful and fulfilling experience in our airline.

We look forward to seeing you in this important and rewarding role!
